According to Carscoops , a German customer named Peter Kirchoff's MINI Cooper D has just officially recorded 621,000 miles on its odometer, meaning the car has reached one million kilometers.
Over the past 12 years, the third-generation MINI Cooper D has accompanied its owner through 25 different countries. Peter Kirchoff meticulously documented each journey as part of Project One M – a project aimed at bringing the MINI Cooper D's odometer to one million kilometers.
Notably, Peter Kirchoff stated that the MINI Cooper D has completed one million kilometers with its original engine, never undergoing major repairs or being involved in any accidents.
According to Carscoops , the car reaching one million kilometers was no coincidence, but a goal meticulously planned by Peter Kirchoff. The owner stated that he spent years recording and analyzing driving data, sharing it publicly on his social media channels.
Peter Kirchoff's MINI Cooper D uses BMW's B47 diesel engine. This setup is said to be more durable than the older N47 diesel engine, which often received negative reviews due to timing chain issues.
Peter Kirchoff personally configured the MINI Cooper D and stated that he never intended to choose another brand.
This person stated that they wanted a car that offered reliable performance while still providing driving pleasure. Their aversion to fuel costs made the MINI Cooper D the ideal choice for Peter Kirchoff, as the car consumes an average of only about 2.95 liters of diesel per 100 km.
The MINI brand announced that it invited Peter Kirchoff to Oxford, where his MINI Cooper D rolled off the production line.
After witnessing the car's mileage reach one million kilometers alongside its owner, factory director Markus Grüneisl described the milestone as a tribute to both the car and the people who built it.
Notably, Peter Kirchoff has no intention of stopping with the MINI Cooper D. His plan is to help the car reach the one million mile mark, equivalent to 1.6 million kilometers.
It remains unclear whether Peter Kirchoff will achieve his goal, but it's clear that the MINI is still quite far from the legendary Volvo P1800, which also boasts an odometer reading of 5.2 million kilometers.
